As women, wives, mothers, sisters and daughters, we need to intentionally pray for our families. Here are just a few starter prayers taken from Colossians, Ephesians and Philippians. Pray the Word of God over your families in Jesus' name!
I ask you God to give my family and I complete knowledge of your will and to give us spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way we live will always honor and please you Lord, and our lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, we will grow as we learn to know You better and better. I also pray that we will be strengthened with all your glorious power so we will have all the endurance and patience we need. May we be filled with joy, always thanking you Father. You have enabled us to share in the inheritance that belongs to your people, who live in the light. For you have rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of your dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.”
Taken from Colossians 1:9-14 NLT
I pray that you, God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto my family and I wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you: the eyes of our understanding being enlightened; that we may know what is the hope of your calling, and what the riches of the glory of your inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of your power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of your mighty power, Which you wrought in Christ, when you raised him from the dead, and set him at your own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Taken from Ephesians 1:17-23 KJV
“I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower my family and I with inner strength through Your Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in our hearts as we trust in You. Our roots will grow down into Your love and keep us strong. And may we have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. May we experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then we will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Now all glory to you, God, who is able, through your mighty power at work within us , to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to You in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”
Taken from Ephesians 3:16-21 NLT
“I pray that our love will overflow more and more, and that we will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want my family and I to understand what really matters, so that we may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May we always be filled with the fruit of Christ's salvation—the righteous character produced in our lives by Jesus Christ —for this will bring much glory and praise to You, God.”
Taken from Philippians 1:9-11 NLT
PRAY FOR YOUR MARRIAGE
Lord, in the name of Jesus, I come before you lifting up our marriage. Thank You for unity and oneness in our union. Because we reverence You, we submit ourselves to each other. Everyday my husband will display his love for me as he loves himself and I will reverence, respect and submit to him as unto You. I declare that the world will know that You sent Jesus Christ because they witness our oneness with You and with each other. People will identify us as followers of Christ because of the unconditional love that we have for one another. I declare that we are like minded, having the same desire and thirst after you. Thank You that we are on one accord, having one mind and that we speak the same thing. We stand together against the spirit of division and we are perfectly joined together in the same mind and same judgment. We live in love because it is the bond that perfectly holds everything together. Because You brought us together, we are one and on one accord as we glorify God together. We are of one spirit and we are striving together for the faith of the gospel. Thank You that we walk together because we agree on the direction that we are walking. I declare that we are not divided because a relationship or marriage divided will end in destruction and not stand the test of time. We rejoice because we are equally yoked together. Lord, thank You for blessing our marriage so that we are in a position to be an example for You. Thank You for causing us to be united in order to build Your kingdom. In Jesus' name, I thank You and believe, declare and receive these things. Amen.
Your sister in Christ,
